Golfing4Teddy gains international status with All Black legend’s participation
The well-known Golfing4Teddy charity initiative's golf day will gain international status this year, after one of the greatest All Black rugby legends of all time specially traveled to South Africa to participate.
The very popular Golfing4Teddy charity project, which has been doing great work since 2015 to provide goodwill and support to young hospital patients over the Christmas season, will take place again on Tuesday, 3 December at the Serengeti Golf and Wildlife Estate.
Golfing4Teddy started nine years ago with a simple idea: To bring smiles to children in hospitals during the holiday season. What started as a small gesture has grown into a beloved annual event that raises thousands of teddy bears for kids in need.
Each year, Golfing4Teddy unite golfers, celebrities, and volunteers to collect teddy bears and deliver them to children battling illness. Their mission is to spread joy and remind them they’re not alone.
This event is known for the fact that a large number of celebrities from the worlds of sports, entertainment and business gather on the golf course on that day to participate. This year, the organizers also went further by flying in a legendary All Black rugby player from New Zealand for the event.
Former All Black legend Justin Marshall arrived in South Africa over the weekend to participate in the Golfing4Teddy event. Marshall, one of the greatest All Black scrumhalf’s in rugby history, arrived in South Africa on November 28.
Penta Motor Group, known for their support of sporting and community initiatives, met Marshall at a hotel in Randburg a day later and presented him with a specially branded Suzuki vehicle – one of the main sponsors of the Golfing4Teddy project – for his use during his visit to South Africa.
Serengeti Estates will also equip him with a set of exclusive golf clubs – ready for his participation in this iconic golf day.
Marshall will showcase his talent on the golf course on 3 December, when he will play alongside some South African sporting greats, including MotoGP legends Brad and Darryn Binder, rugby hero Duane Vermeulen, renowned legal practitioner Advocate Gerrie Nel and former UFC fighter Soldier Boy, among others.
The day promises to combine stardom with a passion for community development, as all proceeds will be used to distribute 4000 teddy bears to children in hospitals across South Africa during the festive season.
However, Marshall’s involvement extends beyond the golf course.
On December 4, he will visit hospitals, along with former Springboks Duane Vermeulen and Gcobani Bobo, to hand out teddy bears to children and bring the Christmas spirit to life. This heart-warming mission will be covered by local and international media, ensuring that these stories of hope and joy are widely shared.
This celebrity golf tournament is not just an event – it is a moving story of hope, collaboration, and humanity. Don’t miss the chance to experience these historic moments.
