
eMBALENHLE a A 14-years-old Grade 5 pupil was stabbed with scissors at the Buyani Primary School in eMbalenhle on 12 February because he apparently refused to give money to the alleged stabber.
His parents are upset about the incident especially because they said the school did not take the child to a clinic.
“He was only given two tablets and was helped to wipe off the blood.
He was later that day admitted to the Evander Hospital.
Mr Jasper Zwane, head of Communication for the Department of Education, said: “The department at this level was not informed of this incident and has already directed the district to submit a report.
“Be that as it may, the department condemns any form of violence and intimidation that may take place in any of our schools.
“We urge parents to assist in ensuring that their children do not take weapons and drugs to schools.
“The department will work side by side with its stakeholders to intensify its campaign for creating safe and caring schools.”
