Jacolene competes
Modelling is a learning experience for Jacolene.
SECUNDA – Jacolene Jonker (16) took part in the Miss Junior Teen South Africa Pageant over the weekend in Johannesburg.
She decided to take part in modelling only five moths ago with the encouragement of her friends.
She is a pupil from Hoërskool Oosterland, and does her best to keep her school’s name high when she takes part in debates and public speaking.
“I believe God gives you your own special talent and you must embrace it,” Jacolene said.
She enjoys painting and dancing in her free time.
“Academics are very important to me and I work very hard to maintain a perfect report card.”
Jacolene does not only have the encouragement of her friends, but also the support and care of her parents.
“I am not very competitive, but I do modelling because it is something I enjoy.”
She said it would be nice to get the crown as the Miss Junior Teen SA, if not, then she will try again.
“You learn every time that you take part in a competition.
“My goal is to be Miss Mpumalanga.
Jacolene is inspired by Tyra Banks, a former model.
“She is a very stylish woman and she is all about natural beauty and does not have this stereo type of what a model should be.”
The results of the Miss Junior Teen South Africa were not available at the time of going to press.
