Van Standerdam Primary School pupils receive uniforms

The Secunda Area post Office donated computer equipment, printer and uniform to pupils of Van Standerdam Primary School.

CHARL CILLIERS – About 20 pupils from the Van Standerdam Primary School had Christmas in June when Secunda Area Post Office gave them school uniforms and blankets recently.

Computer equipment and a printer were also donated to the school.

Mr Ike Gumende, Secunda area manager, said this was part of their community development programme.

“We saw a need at this school and decided to support them.

“We believe in giving back to our people and believe in the future our pupils.

“When we arrived at the school, I was saddened by the condition of the pupils in that school.

“Some were wearing sandals in this cold winter and I hope that we helped to eliminate poverty a little bit.”

Various stakeholders such as the Community Policing Forum, the School Governing Body, Social Development and parents attended the event.

Ms Sibongile Matlala, principal, thanked the post office and urged parents and pupils to look after the uniforms.
