The Thebe Foundation and Maths Centre host hubs day

The Maths Centre and Thebe Foundation unite to help pupils with maths.

eMBALENHLE – The Maths Centre in partnership with the Thebe Foundation held the 2014 Gert Sibande hubs construction and launch on Wednesday, 1 October.

It was aimed at equipping teachers, pupils and parents with learning materials and programmes in order to develop a higher competency and performance in mathematics, science, technology and entrepreneurship education.

The launch was for the nine primary schools in eMbalenhle.

Ms Zibusiso Ntini, project coordinator, said the constructed hubs will develop team spirit as teachers, pupils and parents are working together in constructing the hubs.

“It creates a positive mind set about education and mathematics in particular.

“Pupils will develop an interest in maths through games and teachers will use the hubs for lesson delivery since there is concrete material available.

“The games created around the hubs develop healthy competition among pupils.”

Pupils, teachers and pupils constructed the hubs and drew mathematical drawing at the Maphala Gulube Primary School where the launch took place.
