Power grid still constrained
There is still a serious strain on the national power grid.
Electricity supply remains a concern for the country.
“There is still a strain on the grid, especially during peak hours,” Mr Sipho Neke, media liaison at Megawatt Park, said.
“Although the situation is serious we do not anticipate any power outages during the week.”
He also said the collapse of the coal silo at Eskom’s Majuba Power Station is the only cause of the shortage.
According to their website, Eskom generates about 95% of the electricity used in South Africa and about 45% of the electricity used in Africa.
Eskom generates, transmits and distributes electricity to industrial, mining, commercial, agricultural and residential customers and re-distributors.
