Water streams out of fire hydrant
The fire hydrant was left open leaving residents in De la Rey Street without water.
Meyerville residents experienced problems with the water on 11 January.
The fire hydrant in De la Rey street was opened, leaving residents in that street without water.
The water streamed out between 10am and 1pm.
According to a resident in De la Rey street, a municipal employee opened the hydrant and left it open.
An employee at the fire department said municipal employees open the fire hydrants when there is a need to release the water pressure.
“When they are fixing pipes somewhere they need to release the water pressure,” he said.
Residents in this street said this was not the first time water sprayed out of the fire hydrant, it happens at least once a month.
Every time it happens residents are left without water, without any notification.
