Mr Victor Payne (24), his fiancée, stepson and two-year-old son call the local Muslim graveyard home.

The family has a small tent in which they sleep, but on cold nights they use a room at the graveyard.

Mr Payne was employed in Newcastle at a scrap metal yard, but according to him was not getting paid.

“I arrived in Standerton at the beginning of January and have been staying at the graveyard since,” Mr Payne said.

“I was in the same position and know how it feels to be down and out,” Mr Gert Meiring, who also lives in the graveyard, said.
