Local performers to receive donations
A local company will donate money to local performers.
A local company has pledged to donate R10 000 to local artists and cultural groups.
It was announced during the Youth Development Awards in the Standerton Town Hall on 20 February.
According to Mr Xolani Sophiseka, coordinator of the Lekwa Youth Development Forum, nine groups, including artists, will divide the money among themselves.
“This will help them to buy whatever they need to improve their groups,” Mr Sophiseka said.
A cheque will be handed to the performers on 4 March.
“We really appreciate what the company has done,” DDoubleesa, local hip-hop artist, said.
He also said they will use the money to equipment for their studio, which they are currently building.
Mr Sophiseka urged other local artists to come forward, so they can also be recognized.
The company refrained from comment, wishing to remain anonymous.
