Why was the traffic to Meyerville congested you ask?

Motorists travelling to and from the Meyerville area were stuck in traffic on 2 March.

Traffic officers assisted a truck with an abnormal load to pass under the Meyerville bridge on 2 March.

Cars travelling to and from Meyerville were affected.

According to Mr Sipho Mkwanazi, spokesman of the Lekwa Municipality, the officers had to help to lower the truck.

“They also escorted it out of town, after passing through the bridge,” Mr Mkwanazi said.

This incident, that occurred between 4.30pm and 5pm, created traffic congestion.

It took about 20 minutes to lower the truck and some motorists tried alternative routes.

The truck driver was travelling from Meyerville towards town and safely resumed his journey.
