I nearly got killed by a suspected drunk driver

This morning at about 9:30 am, I walked to the nearby mini Pick n Pay not thinking that I would almost be run over by a suspected drunk driver.

I work close to the shop and walk this road daily.

As I walked I saw a truck driving fast without any indicator on and stood still in the parking area for him to pass before I continued.

Looking at the other side of the road I noticed this truck driving up right next to me at high speed and parking over a couple of parking spots (couldn’t be half a metre away).

I was shocked and went inside PicknPay.

When I walked back to my workplace, a friendly woman stopped next to me and said that she saw everything happen and that the driver of the truck went inside the bottle store.

I confronted the man and asked him where he worked, noticing straight away that he smelled of booze and that his eyes were bloodshot.

I told him that I was going to report him because he was clearly drunk and nearly killed me!

He shrugged saying that he worked for himself and that the booze he just bought was not for him.

The friendly woman advised me to take photographs as he was climbing back into the truck.

I took her advice although I was still in shock.

Whoever the mystery woman was, I just want to thank her for staying with me until the truck driver left.

I reported the incident to the Secunda Police where a very helpful man told me that they will be looking for the truck and the driver before any innocent people get hurt.
