Most of the DA Councillors did not attend the meeting because they felt that having a meeting away from Standerton, was a waste of money.

An opposition party is not impressed that the Lekwa Municipality held its Strategic Planning meeting at Loskop Dam recently.

More than 35 people attended this meeting, including council members, staff members, managers as well HODs.

“We can not afford to pay the electricity bill, but they can afford to have a meeting at Loskop Dam,” Mr Schnetler said.

According to a reliable source, the municipality spent R550 000 on this meeting.

Mr Sipho Mkwanazi, Lekwa Municipality spokesman denied that the municipality spent R550 000 on the meeting, saying it was less than that.
