Counselling session held for drug addicts

Ms Scheppers and Mr Sibeko dedicate their lives to help people suffering from addiction.

The Thusong Centre now offers help, based on the Word of God, for different types of addicts.

Ms Moipone Scheppers and Mr Sifiso Sibeko devote their lives to help people with different types of addictions.

Ms Scheppers is currently conducting counselling sessions at the centre in Sakhile.

She began counselling rape victims in Middelburg in 2006 and began the programme in town last October.

She prays for the addicts and shares the teachings of God with them.

Mr Sifiso Sibeko, a recovering addict, has recently joined the programme.

He lost all of his belongings because of his drug addiction.

According to Mr Sibeko the only way of fighting addiction is getting everyone involved. “We urge everyone, especially families with people suffering from addiction, to attend the sessions.”

Other recovering addicts from different towns will be joining the sessions as well, to encourage those who want kick their habits.

They have two recovery homes in Davel and accommodate a maximum of 10 people per house.

They will be moving around Standerton and Sakhile conducting sessions and also visit schools to educate pupils about the dangers of substance abuse.
