Test results for Vaal River water released
The test results indicates that the water in the Vaal River is highly polluted.
The test results that AfriForum conducted of the water have shown that the Vaal River is highly polluted.
They took three water samples from different locations.
The first sample was taken in the River Park area, the second one in Johann Street in Meyerville and the last sample was taken close to the Standerton TB Specialised Hospital.
According to Mr Hillel Coetzer, chairman of the Standerton branch of AfriForum, this situation is because of poor maintenance by the Lekwa Municipality.
“Sewage has been leaking directly to the river in Johann Street for almost a year now,” Mr Coetzer said.
“This is not only affecting this town because the Vaal River flows as far as Gauteng.”
