HIGHVELD – The Democratic Alliance (DA) will march on Saturday, 16 May to the municipal offices in Secunda against its failure to prevent Eskom from cutting power to the municipality.
The DA will hand over a memorandum to the municipal manager and the mayor demanding the following:
* That the Govan Mbeki Municipality meet urgently with Eskom to set acceptable payment to keep the lights on.
* For the mayor to do internal investigation regarding the current financial affairs of the municipality.
“This is in the interest of all residents of the municipal area, but the municipality chose not to heed their call for action regarding Eskom,”the DA’s statement reads.
“They have mismanaged our town to the brink of bankrupsy
“They have mismanaged our town to the brink of bankruptsy.”
This campaign was a door-to-door campaign and all members of the community are invited to join the protest march.
It will begin at 9am at the Lillian Ngoyi Stadium and will move to the Govan Mbeki municipal offices in Secunda.
