Bikers help the community of Kwamashisa
Young people were fascinated and could not stop screaming with joy during the bikers’ anthem.
KINROSS – The families of Kwamashisa Farm situated between Kinross and Kriel received groceries and school uniforms from the Phat Squad Motorcycle Club on Sunday, 24 May.
The Phat Motorcycle Squad has been known for doing charity work in the area for the past three years.
Mr Collins (Macolly) Shiri, president of the club, said they believe in giving back to the community and also to promote education among the youth.
The club, which began with only three bikers, now boasts 15 active members.
Mr Shiri said after they have begun to help the needy, they realised that it is not only the orphanages that need help.
“There are people out there who need help and even the people who live on farms need our help,” said Mr Shiri.
Before they help the community, they first identify what type of help is needed for the particular group of people or a family they are planning to assist.
Mr Shiri said while they were looking for the school uniform donations for 10 school kids, their families also helped in getting donations for the groceries for four families living on the farm.
Mr Shaun (Allan Keys) Mokoane advised young people to read a lot.
“You should read books, newspapers and magazines to improve your grammar because most subjects are taught in English,” said Mr Mokoane.
Mr Sibusiso Nyathi, a member of the bikers club, said children should respect their parents and not underestimate them just because they do not come from the suburbs or “more civilised” areas like other young people.
All school children received school uniforms and every family received groceries.
“When I finish school, I am going to become a doctor and I will buy myself a bike.
“Tjoooo bro, this is good and these people have money because they went to school,” said one of the children who received a uniform.
If there are people who would like to donate to the bikers club, they can contact Mr Shiri at 083 761 4882.
