GS College celebrates Youth Day

The GS College students celebrated Youth Day in song and dance on 12 June.

The Gert Sibande College celebrated Youth Day on 12 June.

This event was aimed at commemorating the class of 1976, that took to the streets in response to the introduction of Afrikaans as the medium of instruction in local schools.

Students from the college wore their old school uniforms in celebration of the day.

Students from other campuses, including Evander, Ermelo and Balfour, also attended the event.

Different song and dance items were performed.

The college also invited the Lekwa Aids Council, the Department of Health, AgriAids and Care to render their services.

The organisations encouraged the young people to take charge of their health.

HIV testing services were available on the day and high blood pressure and blood sugar screenings were done as well.
