Pupils fly Basizeni School flag very high
Six pupils from Basizeni LSEN go to America.
eMBALENHLE – Basizeni LSEN pupils are known for their sports excellence and they brought back medals from the National Sasa II Championships that took place in Kimberly in the last semester.
They have done it again with the basketball team that will be taking part in Los Angeles in July representing the country during the Special Olympics World Summer Games.
The team going to Los Angeles comprises 10 players, of whom six are from the Basizeni LSEN school.
The other six pupils are also from eMbalenhle and their names will be released soon.
Ms Bongi Mokwite, coach, said she is excited that their pupils’ talents are finally being realised.
She will not be able to travel with them and said she will be with them in the spirit and trusts they are going to make the country proud.
Ms Florence Thabani, Special Olympics Coordinator for Mpumalanga, said the pupils need more money for the trip.
If you want to sponsor the pupils, you can contact Ms Thabani at 073 981 2794 or Mr Steven Mokwite at 0793963992.
The Special Olympic coordinator is also requesting companies or individuals to assist the team with a new basketball kit.
Pupils will leave South Africa on 20 July and will return on 4 August.
