Phumlile wants to help the needy

Phumlile is calling on residents to donate clothes and food.

eMZINONI – Phumlile Mkhonza is determined to help the poor.

This Grade 10 pupil of iKhethelo Secondary School has mobilised her school mates to collect clothes, blankets and food to donate to various centers.

She said her idea came after she realised that a number of her schoolmates and neighbours depend on various drop-in-centers to have something to eat and wear.

“I want to make a difference in the community.

“We cannot always wait for government to help us, while we have what it takes to contribute in creating better communities.

“Some of us buy new clothes every month and the ones we bought previously, are packed away.”

She urged other pupils and residents to donate anything that will make a difference to the poor.

Phumlile thanked her friends, schoolmates and the School Management Team for their support and for donating the clothes.
