IMG_3 IMG_2Ermelo Provincial Hospital’s Diabetes Club hosted a screening day at the Ermelo Mall on Monday.

They partnered with Roche and MERC (Mzanzi Ethical Research Centre) to offer members of the public blood glucose, blood pressure, BMI, eye and oral health screenings.

The object of the screenings is to identify the onset or, in some cases, people who already has diabetes or other health issues and offer them support.

The Diabetes Club was established in 2010 and every Tuesday a team consisting of a doctor, pharmacist, dietician, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, social worker, nursing staff and the eye clinic tends to patients at the provincial hospital.

The screening day was a huge success and by mid-morning staff had already attended to more than 200 people.
