eMbalenhle residents want ‘aggressive’ Govan Mbeki councillor locked up

Ms Ndoda and her two co-accused, Ms Docus Lobeko and Thandokazi Ndoda, are facing assault charges for allegedly assaulting Ms Loveness Matezana in February.

Residents of Ward 20 in eMbalenhle want their councillor, Ms Mency Ndoda, behind bars.

They demand that a warrant is issued for her arrest.

It is alleged the councillor and her friends assaulted Ms Matezana in her rented room and accused her of having an affair with Ms Ndoda’s husband.

Mr Alfred Kubheka, community leader, said: “We want nothing more than that justice runs its course.

“The councillor is supposed to be protecting us and leading by example, but she is instead promoting violence.

“She does not show any remorse for her actions.

“We want to send a message to the municipality that we are not pleased with our councillor.”

The case was postponed to 13 June.
