Municipality removes illegal stop sign

The stop sign and road markings were illegal and the relevant authority sanctioned the removal of the illegal signage.

Excitement over a stop sign on the corner of Laffnie and Jansen Street was short lived as the stop sign disappeared overnight with the white road markings covered with black paint.

The Highvelder enquired about the reasoning behind removing the stop sign.

Mr Mandla Zwane, spokesman for Msukaligwa Local Municipality, replied saying the stop sign with the accompanying road markings was erected by a municipal employee without following meticulous processes and/or approval by the relevant authority, Director Public Safety or Council.

Therefore the stop sign and road markings were illegal and the relevant authority sanctioned the removal of the illegal signage.
