Sakhile Police, Armed robbery in Standerton, Crime in Standerton

Armed men allegedly robbed a couple of R80 000 at their home in Sakhile on 4 June.

Ms Lindiwe Madela, who owns a local tavern in Ext 3 along with her husband, Leon, was in the adjacent shop at 7.55pm, checking the day’s takings.

According to Ms Madela, she took the money to her husband in their bedroom.

She then heard a knock on the counter and went to serve the customers.

Two men ordered a crate of beers and after she handed them their beverages, while her back was turned, she felt a knock on her head.

She looked up and noticed two guns pointed at her.

The robbers demanded money and she replied in the negative, which led to an assault.

After she screamed for help, the alleged attackers proceeded to the couple’s bedroom where they found her husband and allegedly assaulted him as well, while she was watching.
