Govan Mbeki Municipality is fixing the streets in the township, but residents are concerned.
A woman said she was excited when the project began, because she was one of the people who complained over water overflowing into their yards when it rains.
Residents did not have water because the water pipes were damaged by the workers who were fixing the roads.
They said the contractor who was awarded the project, was not well informed of the challenges and did not have a map that showed the location of the water pipes.
“They should have installed pipes that allow water to flow without flooding our yards.
“But now the pipes they used, will be blocked with soil and other material before they even finish,” said the woman.
She further mentioned that the roads will be flooded with water when it rains.
The municipality was asked to comment, but failed to do so.
