SASSA urges registrations of the foster care grant

SASSA ensures that all qualifying children will get the foster care grant.

SASSA is encouraging all foster parents who have not registered their foster child to visit their offices to register for the foster child grant.

The Agency ensures that all qualifying children will get the foster care grant and restore their dignity.

To qualify for the foster grant the applicant and child must be resident in South Africa and provide a court order indicating foster care status. The foster parent must be a South African citizen, permanent resident or refugee and the child must remain in the care of the foster parent. The foster parent must provide a 13-digit bar coded ID as well as a birth certificate for the foster child.

Foster parents who have insufficient information about the grant must enquire at SASSA local offices.

For more information, contact the hotline number: 0800 60 1011 from 08:00 to 16:00 on Monday to Friday.
