Secunda John Dory’s holds fundraising fiesta in aid of Giving Hearts
John Dory’s and Matt the Batt support Giving Hearts and help raise money for the charity organisation.
John Dory’s hosted a Mexican-themed fundraising event in aid of Giving Hearts on Friday, 30 June.
According to Ms Alta Horn, founder of Giving Hearts, the support of the community at these events helps her organisation to make a difference to those families in the community who need some support.
“We help various needy families with food, clothes and other basic necessities monthly and also offer support to people going through a time of crisis.”
In this way Giving Hearts has supported families who have lost everything when their homes burnt down, or people affected by other disasters.
Giving Hearts also provides support and basic necessities to expectant mothers who might need a bit of extra help.
“We rely on the community to help us with food, household products, clothes and other donations that we then pass on to the people who need it the most. There are many families who struggle in our community and without funds and donations, we cannot help them get back on their feet.
“We are always looking for non perishable nutritious food and clothes for children and adults, especially in the winter.
“Our stocks are very low at the moment and we desperately need donations.”
Ms Horn explained further that they have a number of events planned for the next few months and have also decided to put out donation bins at some of the businesses in town.
“People can drop their donations in the bins or they can go to our Facebook page for more information on what we need.”
Matt the Batt, a well-known musician, also supported the cause and entertained the patrons of John Dory’s.
