Kinross Clinic introduces services to the community
“According to the new system, we are now required to book patients, especially those who are on chronic medication.”
The local clinic had an open day on Thursday, 29 June at Sasol Kinross Club during which they introduced the services they offer to the community.
The welcoming statement was done by the Govan Mbeki Municipal executive mayor, Ms Flora Maboa-Boltman, who mentioned that when people go to the clinic, they are not asked which political party they belong to, but they are required to tell the reason for their visit to the clinic.
This came after she said political party leaders’ roles are to lead all people, irrespective of their political affiliations.
“Being healthy begins with us who must make sure we eat healthy food and clean our houses and yards.”
The mayor applauded the nurses who go the extra mile to ensure patients receive fair treatment.
Sister Martha Morare informed residents that they should use the suggestion box to lodge their complaints and that they will receive feedback after 25 working days.
She also explained the new booking system that is used by all clinics.
“According to the new system, we are now required to book patients, especially those who are on chronic medication. Should patients miss their booked date and they arrive later, we re-book them for another date but give them medication which will last them until their next date.”
Ms Florence Nefale represented the clinic committee and said they are prepared to serve the community.
She commended the nurses for working hard, irrespective of the shortage of staff at the clinic.
The clinic has four nurses to service the whole Kinross.
“Our clinic is very small and accommodate people from nearby farms, Kinross town, Thistle Grove, Ext 21 and 25 and Marikana.
“We feel sorry for the patients, because they do not have a waiting area and have to sit outside,” said Ms Nefale.
Sister Morare thanked the businesses for supporting the event with donations.
