Two people sustained serious injuries when a truck and a car collided on the N17 highway

Motorists are urged to avoid the road, as the scene has not been cleared yet.

One person has been airlifted to a hospital in Johannesburg and one was transported by Langamed South Ambulance Services to a local hospital.

The cause of the accident is unknown and emergency services are on the scene to monitor traffic and to investigate the matter.

Update: Traffic is still severely backed up and the N17 highway remains closed. Motorists are urged to avoid the road and slow down significantly when approaching the Leandra toll gate.
