The backlog at the Pathology Unit in Pretoria leaves families of missing persons in Morgenzon waiting for results.
A human skull was found in Morgenzon on 1 May and the remains were originally taken to the Ermelo Pathology Laboratory for DNA analysis and later transferred to Pretoria.
Children playing soccer near the Sivukile River in the Morgenzon area discovered a skull and informed their parents, who called the Morgenzon Police.
Upon investigation, the police found a skeleton believed to be of female origin because of the indicative clothing.
“Families of missing persons were contacted for DNA tests,” Const Melumuzi Nzimande of the Morgenzon Police said.
An inquest was opened.
