Gogo Dube and Ms Khumalo receive RDP houses on Mandela Day

Business leaders and community members pledged R51 600 towards groceries for Ms Dube and Ms Khumalo.

Mr Linda Dlamini, executive mayor of the Lekwa Municipality, handed Gogo Thoko Dube her new RDP house at Ext 8 during the 67 minutes on Mandela Day.

Gogo Dube is the grandmother of Tsepo Dube (16) who died during a service delivery protest in Sakhile, Standerton on 19 May.

Ms Thoko Dube and Mr Isaac Mabaso in their new bedroom.

“I am glad and thankful for my new house, but still miss my little boy,” Ms Dube said.

Ms Nomaswazi Khumalo also received a house.

Business leaders and community members pledged R51 600 towards groceries for Ms Dube and Ms Khumalo for the next 12 months, to be distributed equally.

Ms Dube also received two new beds with bedding, a stove, fridge and couches.

Eskom, Absa, New Denmark Colliery, the Lekwa Economic Forum and the mayor along with councillors contributed towards the initiatives.
