Texting and driving is a subject that sometimes cause some to bow their heads in shame, while others feel there is nothing wrong with it.
In light of a survey done, people regularly use their phones while driving and Standerton seems to follow the trend.
Some refuse to use their phones while driving and others would say it is necessary to be in contact the whole time due to the nature of their jobs.
“I put my phone in the trunk or on the backseat to keep me out of trouble, the temptation is not there,” Ms Marianna English said.
“No, there is always time for a call, but if your vehicle ends up under a truck your time is up and I put my cell phone in the cubbyhole or in the boot,” Ms Ina Vrettas said.
According to Ms Barbara Sheppard, she used to operate her phone while driving, but since she became a mother she will not touch it.
Ms Hannetjie Rothman confessed her guil and will first check who sent the message and if it can not wait, she will reply.
She also said she will answer a phone call, but ask the person to keep it short.
“Innocent, I can not even text if I sit behind my desk, when I get a message, I will rather phone you back,” Mr Jakes Coetzee said.
“Well I try very hard not to text and drive, but sometimes find myself doing so.
“Due to my line of work every incoming text is important and I know this is wrong and my car has bluetooth so I do answer my phone via bluetooth,” Ms Thando Nkosi said.
According to Mr Ben Vorster, he would be on the same spot the whole day if he had to pull over every time he receives a call.
He uses a bluetooth device when receiving or making calls and voice notes for messages that work for him.
