Leandra Fire Station receives washing machine

“It is important for the fire department to have a washing machine.”

Govan Mbeki Municipality thanked Mr Johan Becker, owner of a local filling station who donated a washing machine to the Leandra Fire Station.

Mr Becker was approached by the station requesting him to help with the washing machine.

“It is important for the fire department to have a washing machine. The fire fighters usually come into contact with contagious substances such as blood and various types of hazardous chemicals that may affect the health and safety of the personnel.

“The washing machine will help to decontaminate the protective clothes from those substances and to keep them clean and in good usable condition,” said Mr Becker who further mentioned that one of the furniture stores offered to sell it at a discount.
