The four suspects were charged with armed robbery after an alleged heist at Super Sure Bakery on Saturday, 24 June during closing time.
Const Phungwayo is an officer at the Charl Cilliers Police Station and his service pistol was found on the scene.
The case has been postponed to 23 August, pending further investigation.
