TRICHARDT – Members of Trichardt SAPS celebrated Mandela Day on Thursday, 27 July and donated school uniforms to learners from Tjebisa
Primary School on Zeekoeigat Farm in Trichardt.
The campaign, “Let’s keep learners warm while they learn”, was initiated by Const Valencia Koma.
She realised during school safety programmes that learners from that school were from needy families and did not have school uniforms and go to school barefeet.
Const Koma said: “The situation became worse in the winter when they do not have warm clothes and end up missing school because of illnesses such as the flu.
“I approached local businesses to help by donating school uniforms.
“Trichardt SAPS thanks the Vukta Taxi Association for sponsoring our initiative by buying tracksuits for the learners.
“We call upon other businesses and organisations to support this initiative since there is still a lot to be done.”
