Department of Social Development celebrate Men’s Month

Msukaligwa Executive Mayor, Mr M.S Nkosi gave the keynote address speaking profoundly on personal grooming.

The Department of Social Development celebrated Men’s month which is July by addressing issues facing men at an interdepartmental event last Friday at Cassim Park Community Hall.

Issues discussed included men’s health, maintenance, financial planning and management, gender based violence as well as men’s personal grooming.

Invited guest speakers from other departments and organisations included Ithuthuzela Care Centre, the FCS unit, the Executive Mayor of Msukaligwa and #I AM organisation.

Objectives of the event was to promote men’s emotional well being in the workshop, motivate men to make positive health behaviour changes, empower men on self care practices, minimise gender based violence and to encourage men to speak out about men domestic abuse.

FCS spoke on gender based violence, Ithuthuzela spoke on the role of the man within his family and Ithemba Men and Boys Organisation encouraged men to form part of the men’s forum.
