74-year-old woman robbed of R22 000

Police released photos of the men suspected of kidnapping and robbing a 74-year-old woman on 13 December last year.

Ms Lina Kubheka was walking from a nearby clinic towards the Junxion Centre when the incident occurred.

According to her, a man walking in an opposite direction approached her and smeared her with what looked like a black ointment on her right arm.

Ms Khubeka said a vehicle, resembling a police vehicle, came from behind and one of the occupants, pretending to be helpful, wiped the ointment from her arm.

According to her, some sort of spray was then used and the suspects said it would prevent her from getting a stroke from the ointment.

Ms Kubheka said they drove in their car to Bethal where she was ordered to withdraw money at an ATM.

From Bethal they drove to Secunda where she was also forced to draw money from her account.

Lastly they took her to Kinross where she also withdrew money.

The total amounted to R22 000.

“I thought these men were the police,” Ms Kubheka said.

The police are asking for any information that will lead to the arrest of the suspects.
