26-year-old Sesi was raped, killed and her body dumped in a cemetery

The locals accused the released men of raping and killing Ms Princess Mahlaba(26) also known as Sesi.

eMbalenhle residents were up in arms and dissatisfied with the police after the release of alleged rape and murder suspects.

The disgruntled locals took to the street and protested outside the eMbalenhle Police Station to voice their concerns on Monday, 18 September.

They said people are fed up with police officers who are not doing their job.

Ms Mahlaba’s body was found at the local cemetery by people who attended a funeral.

Her naked body was found in a pool of blood.

Her family said they were in shock and were traumatised.

“This is the fourth incident of rape in our family, including the rape of a seven-year-old child.

“In all these cases the police were not helpful.

“Our sister was killed, the suspects were identified, but the police chose to release them.

“They did not bother to formally inform the family about their reasons for releasing the suspects, instead they were arrogant and rude to us when we confronted them about the matter.

“We have recordings where one of the police officials was swearing us,” said the family’s representative.
