A 42-year-old rapist was recently sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment for raping a nine-year-old girl and another seven years for attempted rape in eMbalenhle.
He appeared in the Secunda Regional Court and the sentences will run concurrently.
The accused was a tenant at the victim’s house and he raped her inside his room.
The crimes occurred in 2014 and the accused was declared unfit to possess a firearm and his name will appear in the National Sex Offenders Register.
