Secunda Police are concerned about the number of hijackings that have been reported in the area.
They urged motorists to be more alert when they drive and to avoid parking their cars in isolated places.
In a recent incident a motorist was hijacked in the Secunda CBD.
According to the police the man was walking towards his car when he was confronted by three armed men who instructed him to give them his car keys.
It is alleged that the robbers then took the man with them and drove to eMbalenhle.
Capt Bettina Zondo, police spokesman, said as they were driving the car got stuck on a bad road.
“While they were trying to move the car, they saw a police patrol vehicle.
“The alleged hijackers fled on feet.”
The victim was unharmed and the car was recovered.
No one has been arrested yet.
