26-year-old man beaten to death in Extension 25, eMbalenhle

The suspect handed himself over to the police and claims it was self defense.

The police said he sustained multiple wounds outside the suspect’s house.

Capt Magonseni Nkosi, police spokesman, said the suspect came to the eMbalenhle Police Station and reported that he had assaulted a man who forcefully entered his house and attacked him with a stick.

“He alleged that he managed to overpower and disarm him and used the same weapon to beat him.

“Apparently the deceased ran out of the house and collapsed in the yard.

“The suspect then came to the police station to report the incident.”

Officers went to the house and summoned an ambulance, but the man was declared dead on the scene.

The suspect remains in custody and will appear in Evander Magistrate’s Court.
