Councillor removes refuse in her street after municipality fails residents for the third week

Municipality fail to remove refuse for third week.

Ms Mariaan Chamberlain, DA councillor, decided to take matters into her own hands and began removing refuse in her street because Govan Mbeki Municipality failed to remove the refuse in Secunda and Trichardt for the third week.

According to Ms Chamberlain, there are only two trucks operating in Secunda and the one can only operate on one shift.

She requested residents on social media to remove their own refuse if possible.

Ms Chamberlain urged residents not to dump their refuse next to the roads outside Secunda or in the green strips, but at the landfill site.

There is allegedly no money to fix the broken refuse removal trucks.
