Some parts of eMbalenhle were without electricity for nearly a week after heavy storms damaged the electricity transformers in the area on Saturday, 21 October.

Locals said a municipal official has assessed the damage and took photos, but the municipality has done nothing to fix the transformers.

They said their meat have become rotten because their refrigerators were not working.

“We do not know where to report the problem, because the municipal offices were burned down.”

Some residents were complaining about garbage that was piling up in the area, but Council apparently have begun to pick up the refuse.

Govan Mbeki Municipality did not comment.
