
Locals apprehend a suspect after he tried to rob a cell phone from the young girl.
It is alleged that the girl was on her way home from the library, when she was approached by a man who forced her to hand over her cell phone to him.
The girl screamed for help and locals responded and the suspect was apprehended.
The police applauded the community for working closely with them and for arresting the suspect.
Const Thomas Mogadime, communication and social crime prevention officer, said: “On behalf of Bethal SAPS station management, I would like to thank the community for such a great effort and the good relationship they have with us.
“We believe that by working together, we can have a better and safer community for all as crime is everyone’s concern.”
The suspect has been detained for common robbery and further investigation is in progress.
