eMbalenhle activist and community leader’s motorbike set alight

Mr Mahlangu believes he is targeted because of his involvement in the community.

A local activist of eMbalenhle and community leader known for organising community meetings and hailing from his motorbike’s bike was set alight recently.

Mr Mahlangu said he is being targeted because he was one of the leaders who mobilised locals to protest against Govan Mbeki Municipality.

He accused a prominent local businessman of being behind the torching of his motorbike.

“I know who did this, I have prayed for him and my God will answers.

“This businessman threatened me and soon after that my motorbike was burned.

“I do not know what to now but I hope the police will arrest him.”

Mr Mahlangu said he was playing chess with his neighbours late in the evening when the incident took placed.

“I heard screaming and went out to see my bike was on fire.

“I am hurt because it was my life, but God will fight for me.”

Police are investigating.
