Police and the Govan Mbeki Municipality demolished more than a hundred shacks that were built on the illegally invaded land in Extension 26 on Thursday, 16 November.
Land invasion has been spreading rapidly throughout the municipal area since the beginning of the year.
Locals led by the Economic Freedom Fighters began invading the land in August.
The party said the land grab is a national call by their party leader, Mr Julius Malema, and that they will not stop invading the land until he tells them to do so.
