House burglaries are on the rise in the area as the festive season approaches and police have warned locals to be more cautious.
Capt Bettina Zondo, police spokesman, said several cases have been reported in the past two weeks.
She said a common trend is for homes with open gates to be selected and that criminals now cut the security doors to gain access to the targeted homes.
“They mostly steal televisions and electrical appliances.
“I appeal to residents to be more vigilant and to report suspect people and cars.
“Never leave your gates open and your homes unattended.”
Capt Zondo said the police are working tirelessly to eradicate crime in the area.
