Motorist hijacked on the N17 highway outside Trichardt

The motorist apparently stopped on the side of the road to urinate.

Police said motorists must avoid stopping in unsafe places and to rather stop at filling stations if they want to relieve themselves.

This came after a motorist’s car, a Maroon VW Citi Golf, was hijacked at 2pm on 4 December on the N17 highway.

The motorist apparently stopped on the side of the road to urinate.

A silver BMW Series 1 stopped next to him and two men got out. One pointed a firearm at the motorist and demanded his car keys.

They ordered him to get into their car and one drove away with his vehicle.

Police said he was ordered to lie down in the car and he was later abandoned on a gravel road on a farm.

A case of hijacking was opened.

The police asked anyone with information, to contact Det Sgt Harry Fakude at 017 638 0241.
