Bethal residents have to prepare for another day without water

There are apparently still no parts available to fix a water pipe that burst on Saturday, 16 December.

BETHAL – Ms Marietjie Fourie, DA councillor for Ward 28 in Bethal, said a 350mm water pipe burst on Saturday, 16 December at about 1pm.

It is situated opposite United Motors and a big part of Bethal as well as eMzinoni have no water.

Not only residents are affected, but businesses as well.

The parts to fix the pipe could not be found and had to be sourced.

By 6pm on the same evening no parts could be sourced and residents had to prepare themselves for a night without water.

It was said that a water tanker would be dispatched in the area for people to collect water.

Ms Fourie also made her borehole available for residents in need of water.

The water tanker was available at 7pm.

The parts to fix the pipe were still unavailable this afternoon.

It also seems that only one water tanker was dispatched for the part of Bethal that is effected as well as Extensions four, five and six in eMzinoni.

The water tanker is now supplying water to the community of Extension five and six in eMzinoni and it is unclear when the tanker will be in Bethal again.

The eMzinoni and Bethal community affected by this water crisis will have to prepare themselves for another night and morning without water.

It is not known when the burst pipe will be fixed.
