Leaders of the community commemorated 16 Days of Activism at Rooikoppen Hall on 14 December and urged the community to fight against gender based violence.
The event is in recognition of the national 16 Day of Activism.
The Community Policing Forum and police service attended the event.
“One of the major reasons we have this sort of abuse, is because people do not have the fear of God,” Pastor Vusi Mashnini of Charisma Christian fellowship, said.
We must return to God’s original plan for us, he said.
CPF members expressed that a significant rise of serious offenses, especially human to human crimes in and around Sakhile, have been recorded.
The CPF vowed that they will be patrolling in Sakhile to reduce these crimes.
They also said victims of gender based violence should report their abusers to the authorities.
