Mr Thisha Mhlanga, acting municipal manager, was allegedly assaulted and instructed to leave his office by members of a controversial business forum.

It is unclear what instigated the conflict, but a reliable source told the newspaper that the forum is not happy with Mr Mhlanga’s way of doing business and that he was refusing to sign certain documents.

The source also revealed the issues included that money was allegedly used to fund projects in December without proper procedures being followed.

The newspaper learned that senior politicians and officials are implicated in this matter.
